When to go and what to do
The ideal season runs from June to September, when the passes are open, the jailoo pastures are green and the yurt camps are up and running. Be sure to try beshbarmak and kuurdak, wander the bustling Osh bazaar and watch a game of kok-boru, the ancient equestrian sport of the nomads. In winter, the slopes of Karakol await skiers.
